Taught by Melissa Neely Pysanka ia a Ukrainian Easter Egg decorated with traditional Ukranian folk designs using a wax- resistant method. The word pysanka comes from the verb "to write" or " to inscribe", as the designs are no painted on, but written ( inscribed) with beeswax.Participants will receive their own kitska ( writing tool) 1oz beeswax, eggs and dye will also be provided. People that took this class last year and have their own tools can participate for $16.00. Those who are new to the class cost is $25. (If you just need a bar of beeswax, I'll have ounce bars available for $2.) Please bring a container for your egg. Egg cartons or a dish with padding work well; a small candle, any kind will do as long as it can stand up right; and a hair tie if you have long hair. We will be working with the flame of the candles.
