A pysanka is a Ukrainian Easter egg, decorated with traditional Ukrainian folk designs using a wax-resist method. The word pysanka comes from the verb pysaty, "to write" or "to in scribe", as the designs are not painted on, but written (inscribed) with beeswax.
participants will each receive thier own kitska ( writing) tool and
1 oz beeswax, eggs and dye will also be provided.
Students should bring a pencil, a container to hold their egg (egg carton or Tupperware with padding), a rag, and a candle (shorter candles are better than long tapered candles). It is also reccomended that individuals with long hair bring a hair tie.
